FREDERICK, Md. (March 8)- The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team fell on the road at Hood by a score of 22-3 on Saturday.
Cara Dupilka,
Gabby Salandro, and
Katie Smith scored the lone three goals for Saint Vincent in the loss. Smith also scooped up four ground balls for SVC.
Carolina Walters,
Melanie Seefeldt, and
Brianna Mack all totaled one draw control for SVC in the loss as well.
Cassidy Rega and
Louisa Zamborsky split the game in net as Rega totaled four saves, while Zamborsky recorded five saves for Saint Vincent.
Hood out shot the Bearcats 40-8 in the loss. Saint Vincent turned it over 15 times to Hood's 12, while ground balls were 15-10 in favor of Hood as well. SVC was 2-3 on free position shots in the game. The Bearcats were 11-15 on clears as well.
Hood quickly jumped out to a 12-0 lead after one and the score was 15-2 by the half. Dupilka and Smith both scored their goals in the second quarter. Hood won the third quarter by a 4-1 margin as Salandro scored the lone goal for SVC. With the running clock on, both teams went scoreless in the final quarter.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Wednesday, March 12 as they play host to Davis & Elkins in a non-conference matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. under the lights at UPMC Field.
