FINAL RESULTS
The Saint Vincent College women's bowling team finished a strong seventh among 20 teams in the Intercollegiate Team Championships in Allen Park, Michigan.
SVC averaged 181 per game over a long two-day event that featured 64 Baker team games.
The team got off to a rough start on Saturday, landing in 16th place after the first four-game block, but bounced back in round two with a four-game total of 811 (202.7 average) to vault into sixth place. By the end of day one, SVC was in 7th place.
After slipping to eighth after the first round on Sunday, SVC climbed as high as sixth before settling into seventh by the conclusion of the tournament, 97 pins out of sixth place Marian University, and 188 ahead of the eighth place finisher, the University of Northwestern Ohio. North Carolina A&T captured first, with the top four teams advancing to the US Bowling Congress National Championships next month.
For the Bearcats,
Skyy Nicholls led the team with a weekend average of 192, followed by
Abby Justice (188.5) and
Kaylie Kurland (183.1). Rounding out the top five were
Sabine Strickland (182.0) and
Mareana Pilyih (181.8).
Up next for the team is the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, March 21-23, at Pines Plaza Lanes in Pittsburgh. The Bearcats enter the tournament with a conference record of 13-1 as the #1 seed.
