NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Apr. 1)- The Saint Vincent softball team fell in a road Presidents Athletic Conference doubleheader to Westminster on Tuesday evening.
The Bearcats (13-11, 1-5 PAC) fell in the opener by a score of 8-0, before dropping a 14-2 decision in the second game of the doubleheader to Westminster (16-6, 5-1 PAC).
Game 1- Westminster 8, Saint Vincent 0 (6 Innings)
The Bearcats totaled just three hits in the run rule shortened loss in the opener of the doubleheader.
Eva Farone,
Alyssa Henderson and
Taylor Williams recorded the three hits in the loss for Saint Vincent.
Meghan Braun took the loss in the circle, pitching three innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits, while striking out three batters.
Westminster scored two in the first and one in the third to jump out to a 3-0 lead. After a scoreless fourth inning for both teams, the Titans went on to score another run in the fifth and four runs in the sixth to enforce the mercy rule.
Saint Vincent's final line score was no runs on three hits, while committing three errors, while Wesminster scored eight runs on 11 hits.
Game 2- Westminster 14, Saint Vincent 2 (5 Innings)
The Bearcats were stymied by a six run second inning for the Titans as Saint Vincent dropped the second game of the doubleheader.
Saint Vincent totaled eight hits in the loss.
Mackenzie Favero,
Alyssa Henderson, and
Josey Michalski all recorded two hits each, while
Lily Koller and
Taylor Williams added one hit each.
Olivia Bushore took the loss in the circle, pitching 1.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out two and walking two as well.
Madi Zigarovich tossed a scoreless outing in relief for the Bearcats.
After two first inning runs for Saint Vincent, the Bearcats held a 2-1 lead after an inning and a half of play. Henderson and Koller both provided RBI-singles for the Bearcats to give them the early lead.
However, the Titans went on to score six in the second, three in the third, and four in the fourth, while shutting Saint Vincent down in the fifth to enforce the run rule for the second consecutive game.
SVC's final line score was two runs on eight hits, committing two errors, while Westminster scored their 14 runs on 14 hits.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, April 5 with a road PAC doubleheader at Washington and Jefferson. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Washington, Pa.
