GREENVILLE, Pa. (Apr. 10)- The Saint Vincent men's volleyball team fell to Thiel in the Presidents Athletic Conference Semifinals on Thursday night in Greenville.
The Bearcats lost in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-18 to the Tomcats.
Shawn McSwiggen led Saint Vincent with 11 kills and nine digs.
Jackson Genicola totaled 21 assists for SVC in the loss as well.
Saint Vincent jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the opening set. Thiel answered with an 18-10 spurt as the Bearcats trailed 20-14. SVC cut the lead to 21-17 before the Tomcats scored four of the final six points to win the set (25-20), taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
It was back-and-forth for the majority of the second set. The set was tied 15-15 and then 17-17, but Thiel closed the set on an 8-3 run to win the set (25-20), taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
SVC's season came to a close in the final set. Thiel jumped out to a 4-1 lead and increased that lead to 19-14 by the late portions of the set. The Bearcats cut the lead to 21-17, but Thiel closed the set scoring four of the final five points to win the set (25-18) and the match 3-0.
Saint Vincent closes the season out with an 11-13 overall record and 5-7 record in the PAC.
