LATROBE, Pa. (Apr. 15)- The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team fell at home to Washington and Jefferson by a score of 17-1 on a rainy Tuesday night at UPMC Field.
The Bearcats (3-11, 1-6 PAC) trailed 13-0 at the half, before being outscored 4-1 by the Presidents (8-4, 6-1) in the second half.
Katie Smith scored the lone goal for Saint Vincent in the loss, which came in the third quarter. Smith also picked up three ground balls, as did
Ava Baeslach.
Bethany Smith,
Alexandria Votovich, and
Brianna Mack all added two ground ball pickups for SVC.
Cassidy Rega took the loss in net for SVC, making two saves for the Bearcats.
W&J led draw controls by a 17-2 margin, while they also led in ground balls (19-18) and shots (24-8). Saint Vincent forced 21 Presidents turnovers in the loss.
The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, April 22 with a road matchup at Chatham in their 2025 season finale. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.
