TRAFFORD, Pa. (Apr. 21)- Saint Vincent softball freshman second baseman
Eva Farone was named the Presidents Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week.
Farone (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse) put together one of the best weeks of her freshman campaign to this point. The freshman second baseman helped the Bearcats go 3-1 over the course of the week, hitting .451 (5-11) with six runs scored, a home run, and four RBI's in the four games.
The second baseman went 3-3 with a walk and run scored in game two of the doubleheader at Chatham to begin the week. She also recorded a triple in each one of the two games.
She continued her strong hitting in the Bearcats doubleheader sweep against Bethany on Thursday. Farone went 2-3 with with two runs scored a homerun in the game one win against the Bison. She added another hit and two RBI's, finishing the week with a .571 on base percentage and 1.091 slugging percentage.
Farone and the Bearcats look to keep their playoff hopes alive with a home doubleheader against Waynesburg on Thursday, April 24. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Latrobe.
