LATROBE, Pa. (Aug. 29)- The Saint Vincent women's soccer team opened the season in impressive fashion, dominating from start to finish in a 4-0 victory against cross-town rival Pitt-Greensburg.
Despite being outshot by a 16-11 margin, the Bearcats capitalized on their opportunites and dominated from start to finish. Saint Vincent was led by four different goal scorers in the win.
Cori Bieber,
Jordan Kirkwood,
Jude Galvin, and
Alexis Arlaus scored the goals for the Bearcats.
Addie Fisher picked up two assists on SVC's four goals, while Bieber picked up an assist of her own.
Rilyn Warner posted the shutout win in net, making five saves.
It was a quick start for Saint Vincent as Bieber scored the first goal of the 2025 campaign, coming just over 15 minutes into the game to put the Bearcats up 1-0, a lead they would hold going into the half. Fisher picked up her first of the two assists on the goal. UPG held a slight 5-4 advantage in shots in the opening half.
The Bearcats got off to a quick start in the second half as well as Kirkwood scored to double the Saint Vincent lead just over two minutes into the half. A short time later, Galvin scored on another assist from Fisher to increase the Saint Vincent lead to 3-0.Â
Arlaus added another goal from Saint Vincent to secure the dominant non-conference victory.
Over the course of the win, Saint Vincent committed just two fouls, while Pitt-Greensburg committed ten. Corner kicks were 2-2, with the Bearcats scoring off of both of their corners. Both teams recorded five shots on goal each as well.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Sunday, August 31, traveling to Muskingum for a non-conference matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
