LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 13)- The Saint Vincent women's soccer team earned a 2-0 shut out victory in a home non-conference matchup against Wilmington on Saturday afternoon at UPMC Field.
The Bearcats (5-1) dominated on the offensive side of the ball from start to finish. SVC out shot Wilmington by a 20-2 margin over the course of the game, scoring both of their goals in the second half.
Addie Fisher and
Lexi Graham scored the goals in the win for the Bearcats.
Madisen Geesaman and
Natalie Helman picked up the assists for the Bearcats.
Rilyn Warner recorded another shut out in net, making one save for Saint Vincent.
From the opening whistle, the Bearcats dominated the entirety of the first half in their offensive end. They had multiple scoring chances, while out shooting Wilmington 12-0 over the course of the half. However, the Bearcats did not score in the half as it was a scoreless tie going into the break.
It didn't take the Bearcats long to grab the lead in the second half. Fisher scored just four minutes into the half on an assist from Geesaman to put Saint Vincent up 1-0.
After continuing to press the Fighting Quakers, Saint Vincent added an insurance goal with just under 20 minutes to go in the half. Graham scored on an assist from Helman to double the Bearcats lead and they held on over the final 20 to earn the win.
Saint Vincent totaled seven corner kicks in the win with five of them coming in the first half.
The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, September 16 hosting La Roche in a non-conference matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
