LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 17)- The Saint Vincent College women's swimming team had a dominant 167-84 win against Penn State Altoona.
To start the meet off, the A and B relays finished in both first and second for the 200-yard medley relay. Individually, senior Rachel Hutchinson had wins in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle and a second-place touch in the 200-yard individual medley.
Junior Teresa Grimm received second in the 200- yard freestyle and first in the 200-yard breaststroke. Junior Adrianna Grimm continues excellence in the sprint events winning both the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle.
Likewise, freshman Ava Sutter won the 50-yard freestyle and senior Emma Martz won the 100-yard butterfly. Freshman Addison Boswell won the 200-yard butterfly while sophomore Fallyn Zembiec received the first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke.
Junior Brook McDermott had two second place finishes in the distance events of the 500- and 1000-yard freestyles. Junior Cecilia Hickin also had two silver finishes in the 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle.
The women finished the night the same way they started: finishing both first and second in the 200-yard freestyle relays. These relays consisted of Zembiec, Hickin, Martz, McDermott, Boswell, Sutter, and both Grimm sisters.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday, January 23, competing in the two-day Western PA Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Friday evening.
