Bearcats remain undefeated in PAC play after 61-48 win against Grove City

LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 24) – The Saint Vincent College women's basketball team extended its Presidents' Athletic Conference winning streak with a 61-48 home victory over Grove City College on Saturday afternoon inside the Robert S. Carey Center.

Saint Vincent (13-4, 8-0 PAC) used a sustained team effort and timely scoring to pull away from the Wolverines (11-6, 5-3 PAC), including a pivotal third quarter that helped swing momentum and build separation en route to the Bearcats' latest conference win.

After a competitive first half that saw the Bearcats hold a 26-28 lead at intermission, Saint Vincent opened the second half with a decisive run — outscoring Grove City 20-6 in the third quarter — to turn a close game into a comfortable advantage heading into the final period.

The Bearcats' balanced scoring and improved defensive intensity in the quarter laid the foundation for the road victory.

Camdon Bashor led the way offensively for Saint Vincent with 14 points while grabbing three rebounds and adding two blocks, anchoring a physical effort in the paint.

Makenna Maier also had a big afternoon, finishing with 12 points and eight rebounds as part of the Bearcats' collective attack. Danielle Pontius chipped in 9 points and was effective from beyond the arc, while Olivia Yancy's 8 points and two three-pointers provided key contributions off the bench.

The Bearcats carried the momentum from the third quarter into the final 10 minutes, maintaining their defensive pressure and knocking down timely free throws down the stretch to preserve the lead and seal the victory. Saint Vincent's balanced scoring and depth proved decisive in the win.

Saint Vincent now looks ahead to its next Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup as the Bearcats aim to keep their unbeaten league record intact as they take on Bethany on Wednesday, January 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Center.
