HIRAM, Ohio (Feb. 14)- The Saint Vincent College wrestling team won their second Presidents Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday.
The championship is the Bearcats second in the last three years since the rebirth of the program in 2024. Saint Vincent recorded four first place individual finishes, five second place finishes, and two third place results as well.
Saint Vincent's first individual champion came at 133 pounds as
Logan Connolly picked up the victory. In the championship round, Connolly defeated his teammate
Owen Caracciolo by a 4-1 decision as Caracciolo finished as the runner up in the weight class.
Tyler Debnar recorded the Bearcats second consecutive weight class victory, winning the PAC Championship at 141 pounds. Debnar earned a 9-0 major decision to win it.
Brett Klim also placed in the weight class, finishing third overall.
At 149 pounds,
Anthony Orlandini won the Bearcats their third consecutive title. Orlandini earned a 19-3 technical fall at 5:39 to win the PAC Championship in the weight class.
Logan Bechtold won the Bearcats their final individual PAC Championship of the afternoon, winning at 165 pounds. Bechtold earned a 7-3 decision in the finals to place first.
Ryan Yocum (157 pounds),
Chase Brandebura (174 pounds),
Chase Stuchal (197 pounds), and
Jonah McCoy (285 pounds) all added second finishes for the Bearcats. McCoy was also named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team.
Nathan Barkley added a third place finish for the Bearcats in the 184 pound weight class as well.
The Bearcats compiled a team score of 118.5 to win the tournament. Thiel came in second with a total of 100 points and W&J rounded out the top three with 67 team points.
Saint Vincent will now look to keep that momentum going as they will prepare now for the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament. The tournament is scheduled for Friday, February 27 and Saturday February 28 at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
