MANHEIM, Pa. (Mar. 12)- Saint Vincent freshman wrestlers
Jonah McCoy and
Logan Connolly were named Academic All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
To be honored with Scholar All-American distinction, wrestlers must meet one of two criteria in academics and wrestling. Academically, they must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters
or a cumulative GPA of 3.2. On the mat, they need to either place in the top eight in the regional tournament or have a winning percentage greater than 66 percent in a minimum of 15 matches.
McCoy and Connolly both had impressive freshman seasons for the Bearcats.
Connolly was the PAC Champion in the 133 pound weight class for the Bearcats at the conference championship. In the championship round at the PAC Championship Tournament, Connolly defeated his teammate Owen Carrociolo by a 4-1 decision as Caracciolo finished as the runner up in the weight class. Connolly then earned a seventh place finish in the 133 lbs. weight class at the NCAA Regionals a couple of weeks ago.
McCoy finished second in the 285 lbs. weight class for the Bearcats at the PAC Championship. He then added a seventh place finish for the Bearcats at regionals as well.
