GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb.19)- The Saint Vincent men's swimming team sits in third place after the first two days of the Presidents Athletic Conference Swimming Championships.
Jacob Dzurica highlighted the day for the Bearcats, setting the PAC record in the prelims of the 50-yard freestyle. In the prelims, Dzurica raced a conference record time of 19.72 seconds to finish first going into the finals.
Dzurica added another PAC individual to his already impressive resume, winning the 50-yard freestyle later in the night, swimming a winning time of 20.08 seconds.
Freshman
William Schauss picked up his first career PAC individual championship, winning the 500-yard freestyle. After placing third (4:51.78), the freshman won the race with a winning time of 4:45.47 in the finals later in the night.
In the 200-yard IM, two Bearcats earned podium finishes.
Liam Randolph placed fourth, swimming a time of 1:58.63 and
Giovanni Guido placed eighth with a time of 2:01.26 for the Bearcats.
To conclude night two, the Bearcats raced a program record time of 3:25.59 in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing second. Dzurica, Randolph,
Maxwell Huck, and Schauss helped set the record for SVC.
On the opening night of the event yesterday, the Dzurica, Randolph,
Owen Echegaray, and
Alex Leskovansky picked up a second place finish for SVC in the 200-yard medley relay. Schauss, Huck,
Evan Zeni, and Guido teamed up to finish second for the Bearcats in the 800-yard freestyle relay on Wednesday night as well.
Day three of the PAC Championships will begin tomorrow, Friday, Februay 20 with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals starting at 5:30 p.m. at Grove City College.
