GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 20)- The Saint Vincent men's and women's swimming team's competed at the third day of the Presidents Athletic Conference Championships on Friday.
The women's team is currently in second place heading into the final day, while the men's team is in third.
To open the night,
William Schauss picked up a second place finish for the Bearcat men in the 400-yard IM, swimming a time of 4:10.86.
Giovanni Guido (fifth) and
Jacob Bacasa (seventh) both recorded podium finishes in the event as well.
In the 100-yard butterfly,
Owen Echegaray (sixth) and
Alex Leskovansky (eighth) were on the podium for the SVC men. Echegaray swam a time of 53.28, while Leskovansky swam a time of 53.69 for the Bearcats.
On the women's side in the 100-butterfly,
Emma Martz (sixth),
Addison Boswell (seventh), and
Cecilia Hickin (eighth) finished back-to-back-to-back in the event. Martz recorded a time of 1:02.32, Boswell swam a 1:04.16, and Hickin raced a time of 1:04.27.
Evan Zeni added a fifth place podium finish (1:47.07) in the 200-yard freestyle for SVC, while
Rachel Hutchinson placed sixth (2:01.72) in the event for the Saint Vincent women's team.
Liam Randolph led the Bearcats men's team in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in third place (57.40).
Landon Kirkpatrick (sixth) and
Joseph Borneman (seventh) also recorded podium finishes in the event for Saint Vincent. On the women's side,
Teresa Grimm recorded a fifth place (1:11.14) finish and
Valerie Clabaugh finished eighth (1:15.48) for the Bearcats.
In the final individual event of the night,
Jacob Dzurica picked up a runners up finish for the Bearcats in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 49.68 seconds.
Anton Seifert placed eighth in a time of 58.04.
On the women's side,
Adrianna Grimm placed fourth (1:00.69),
Fallyn Zembiec placed fifth (1:01.27), and
Ava Sutter placed seventh (1:03.37) for Saint Vincent.
The Bearcats men's 200-yard freestyle relay team concluded the night with a third place result. The team of Dzurica, Randolph, Leskovansky, and
Maxwell Huck swam a time of 1:25.47.
On the women's side, the Bearcats placed second in the relay. The team of Sutter, Martz, Hickin, and
Teresa Grimm swam a time of 1:41.21.
The Bearcats will conclude the PAC Championship tomorrow, Saturday, February 21 at Grove City. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with the finals beginning at 5:15 p.m.
