EBENSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 21) – The Saint Vincent men's tennis team got its 2026 spring season off to a strong start on Saturday afternoon, earning a 5-2 road victory at Mount Aloysius College inside the Ebensburg Tennis Center.
With the win, the Bearcats improved to 3-0 overall this season, while the Mounties dropped to 0-1.
Saint Vincent took the early momentum by capturing the doubles point, sweeping all three doubles flights to put pressure on Mount Aloysius from the outset. In the top flight,
Matthew Sadusky and
Brady Johnson teamed up for a 6-0 win, while
Blaise Bukovac and
J.T. Gockel followed with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
The duo of
William Hinkson IV and
Timothy Jakubek closed out the doubles sweep with a 6-1 result at No. 3 to give the Bearcats the all-important first point.
In singles competition, Saint Vincent continued its strong play. After a hard-fought back-and-forth at No. 1 singles, Bukovac fell in a tight two-set battle, but the Bearcats responded by securing wins at multiple positions.
Matthew Sadusky delivered a straight-set victory at No. 3 sinlges.
Gockel, Hinkson and Jakubek each posted straight-set wins at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, respectively. Although
Brady Johnson dropped his No. 2 singles match, SVC's collective effort was enough to clinch the overall victory.
The Bearcats return to action tomorrow, Sunday, February 22 with a home non-conference matchup against Carlow. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
