Men's basketball falls in PAC quarterfinals

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Feb. 24) – The Saint Vincent men's basketball team fought hard in Presidents' Athletic Conference quarterfinal action Tuesday evening, but the Bearcats came up just short in an intense 80-76 loss at Westminster College.

With the result, Saint Vincent's 2025-26 season comes to a close, while the Titans advance to the PAC Semifinals. Despite falling behind at times, SVC's balanced attack kept them within striking distance and set up a thrilling finish.

Junior Jaden Gales led the Bearcat offense with a stellar performance, pouring in 20 points on efficient shooting to help keep SVC within striking distance late, while also grabbing 12 rebounds to end his Saint Vincent career with a double-double.

Jevontae Jones and Dev Ostrowski both ended their Saint Vincent careers, scoring in double figures as well. Jones scored 12 and grabbed nine rebounds, while Ostrowski added 13 points and four boards.

Maxwell Gordon also scored 14 points for the Bearcats.

Westminster held the lead for the majority of the game as the Bearcats only gained the lead once (4-2). The Titans held a 44-33 lead at the half.

After trailing for double digits for the majority of the second half, the Bearcats didn't give it fighting the whole way back to cut the lead to just two late in the second half. However, one last push from Westminster ended the game and the Bearcats season as they fell by four points.

Saint Vincent shot 44 percent from the field, while Westminster shot 50 percent on their offensive end. The Bearcats were just 1-9 from beyond the three-point line, while Westminster was 8-20 on their end.

Saint Vincent ends their season with a 16-10 overall record.
