Men's volleyball wins 14th in a row in 3-0 sweep against Geneva

LATROBE, Pa. (March 25) — The Saint Vincent College men's volleyball team continued its strong run on Wednesday night, defeating Geneva College in straight sets, 3-0, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Carey Center.
 
With the win, the Bearcats improved to 14-2 overall and remained perfect in PAC play at 10-0, while Geneva fell to 8-17 overall and 2-8 in the conference.
 
Saint Vincent took control of the match from the outset, earning a 25-14 win in the opening set before following with a 25-20 victory in the second. The Bearcats then closed out the sweep with a 25-17 win in the third set. As a team, Saint Vincent hit .218 for the match and held Geneva to a .050 hitting percentage.
 
Shawn McSwiggen led the Bearcats offensively with 11 kills and added eight digs, while Zebadiah Wyant followed with eight kills, three service aces, seven digs, and two blocks.
 
Tyler Nelson chipped in four kills, and Braeden Artman finished with four kills on a .429 hitting percentage to go along with a team-high three blocks.
 
Jack Ryan directed the offense with 26 assists while also adding two kills and four digs. Jackson Genicola anchored the back row with a match-high 17 digs and three assists, while Owen Ward contributed two kills, two aces, and seven digs.
 
Rocco Marino added a kill, an ace, and a block in the win.
 
Saint Vincent finished the night with advantages in kills (32-28), aces (8-2), blocks (7-2), assists (30-25), and digs (46-40). Geneva was led by Owen Kelley, who posted 12 kills and 10 digs, while Andrew Ubinger recorded 21 assists.
 
Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, March 28 as they travel to Pittsburgh for a PAC matchup against Chatham. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 noon.
