Bearcats earn non-conference road victory at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio (March 4) – The Saint Vincent College men's lacrosse team bounced back in a big way on Wednesday night, building a four-goal lead after one quarter and holding off a late push to earn a 14-12 non-conference win at the University of Mount Union.

With the victory, the Bearcats improved to 3-2 overall.

Saint Vincent came out firing to start the night, scoring the game's first five goals in a span of just over six minutes. Ryan Rosenberger opened the scoring at the 12:53 mark, before Mason Krabbe (11:11), Max Radcliffe (8:55), and Neal Ritchie (8:21) all found the back of the net to make it 4-0.

Owen Rogers added another at 6:17, and Calvin Rose capped a six-goal opening quarter for the Bearcats with a goal at 3:59 as Saint Vincent carried a 6-2 lead into the second.

Mount Union chipped away in the second quarter with a pair of goals, but Saint Vincent kept its cushion thanks to a second man-up finish by Radcliffe at 4:52 and an unassisted tally from Rose at 1:44 to send the Bearcats into halftime up 8-4.

The Purple Raiders made their biggest push in the third, scoring five times to cut the deficit to one, but Saint Vincent answered at key moments. Krabbe scored early in the period (9:30) and Rose added his third of the night at 3:47 to keep the Bearcats in front, 10-9, heading to the fourth.

In the final frame, Saint Vincent delivered the response it needed. Rose struck twice more—first on a feed from Reed Hunt at 11:51, then again at 2:39 off an assist from Liam McCall—while Radcliffe buried his third man-up goal of the night at 8:35. McCall added a late unassisted goal at 1:02 that proved to be the difference as the Bearcats closed out the 14-12 win.

Rose led the Bearcats with five goals, while Radcliffe finished with a hat trick and Krabbe added two goals. Jonathan Nagy paced the offense as the primary distributor with four assists, and Hunt totaled two assists. In goal, Garrett Ritts made nine saves in 60 minutes.

As a team, Saint Vincent finished with 40 shots to Mount Union's 42, won the faceoff battle 18-11, and went 3-for-5 on extra-man opportunities.

Saint Vincent returns home to UPMC Field on Saturday, March 7, hosting Hood College in a 1 p.m. start in Latrobe.
