GREENVILLE, Pa. (Mar. 6) — The Saint Vincent men's volleyball team earned its tenth consecutive victory on Friday night, defeating Thiel College in straight sets in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Bearcats won by scores of 25-19, 25-22, and 25-17 to improve to 10-2 overall and remain perfect in PAC play at 6-0.
Saint Vincent opened the match with a 25-19 win in the first set, hitting .280 while matching Thiel with 11 kills.
The Bearcats then took a tightly contested second set, 25-22, before closing out the sweep with a 25-17 victory in the third. For the match, Saint Vincent totaled 34 kills on a .207 hitting percentage, while holding Thiel to 30 kills and a .104 clip.
The Bearcats also finished with advantages in aces (6-1), assists (33-28), digs (45-38), and blocks (6-4).
Zebadiah Wyant led the Bearcats offensively with a match-high 13 kills while adding eight digs, and
Shawn McSwiggen followed with 11 kills, three service aces, eight digs, and a block assist.
Tyler Nelson added six kills and hit .250, while
Jack Ryan paced the offense with 33 assists, seven digs, and four total blocks.
Defensively,
Jackson Genicola posted a team-best 11 digs.
Rocco Marino contributed a strong all-around effort at the net, finishing with two kills on .500 hitting along with four total blocks, while
Tommy Barrick added two service aces and four digs.
Owen Ward also chipped in an ace and two digs, and
Braeden Artman recorded two kills and a block assist.
With the win, Saint Vincent stayed unbeaten in conference play and handed Thiel its first PAC loss of the season. The Bearcats are now in sole possession of first place in the PAC.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, March 14 with a home matchup against Chatham. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 noon in the Robert S. Carey Center.
