LATROBE, Pa. (Apr. 12)- The Saint Vincent softball team stayed hot as they swept their third consecutive doubleheader with their non-conference sweep at Carlow on Sunday afternoon.

The Bearcats won the opener 12-6 before completing the sweep with a 9-1 run rule shortened victory in game two at West Mifflin High School.

Game 1- Saint Vincent 12, Carlow 6
The Saint Vincent College softball team used a 21-hit attack to rally past Carlow University, 12-6, Sunday afternoon at West Mifflin High School.

With the win, the Bearcats improved to 14-13 overall, while the Celtics dropped to 4-21.

Saint Vincent jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
Mackenzie Favero doubled to open the game and later scored on a bunt single by
Emily Dudenhoeffer that turned into a throwing error.

Alyssa Henderson then doubled to left to bring home Dudenhoeffer. The Bearcats added another run in the second when
Macie McHugh doubled and eventually scored on a
Shayna Perigo RBI groundout for a 3-0 edge.

Carlow answered with four runs in the bottom of the second to take its only lead of the day. Cailyn Lucas delivered a two-run double, Kamyia Morris followed with an RBI single, and Carrah Scardina added another run-scoring single to put the Celtics in front, 4-3.

Saint Vincent pulled even in the fourth, as
Abby Bauer scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a single.

The Bearcats broke the game open with four runs in the fifth.
Macie McHugh lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored
Taylor Williams, while
Samantha Farrell also came home on a throwing error on the play. Later in the inning, Dudenhoeffer singled to center to drive in both
Shayna Perigo and
Abby Bauer, giving Saint Vincent an 8-4 advantage. McHugh added an RBI triple in the sixth to score
Josey Michalski and make it 9-4.

Saint Vincent tacked on three more runs in the seventh. Henderson singled home Favero, Michalski followed with an RBI single down the left-field line, and
Mya McHugh added an RBI single to center to plate
Remmie Seitz.

Carlow scored twice in the bottom half on a Kamyia Morris two-run double, but the Bearcats closed out the 12-6 win.

The Bearcats finished with 12 runs on 21 hits. Dudenhoeffer went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Favero was 3-for-4 with two runs and a walk.

Henderson added three hits and two RBIs, McHugh finished 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and a sacrifice fly, and
Abby Bauer went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Williams also had two hits and scored once for Saint Vincent.

Mya McHugh earned the win in relief to improve to 1-1 after allowing two runs on five hits over 5.0 innings with two strikeouts.
A.J. Arnal started and gave up four runs on four hits in 2.0 innings. Carlow finished with six runs on nine hits.

Game 2- Saint Vincent 9, Carlow 1 (5 Innings)
The Saint Vincent College softball team completed the doubleheader sweep of Carlow University with a 9-1 victory in five innings Sunday afternoon at West Mifflin High School.

 With the win, the Bearcats improved to 15-13 overall, while the Celtics fell to 4-22 on the season.

Saint Vincent took the lead in the top of the first.
Mackenzie Favero opened the game with a single and came around to score on an RBI double to center by
Emily Dudenhoeffer.

Later in the inning,
Abby Bauer lined an RBI single up the middle to score Dudenhoeffer and give the Bearcats an early 2-0 advantage. Carlow answered with an unearned run in the bottom half, but Saint Vincent stayed in front, 2-1.

The Bearcats added three more runs in the second to create some separation.
Taylor Williams scored on an RBI single through the left side by Dudenhoeffer, and
Alyssa Henderson followed with a two-run double to center that brought home both Favero and Dudenhoeffer for a 5-1 lead.

Saint Vincent extended the margin in the fourth. After
Abby Bauer scored and
Josey Michalski came home on an unearned run,
Samantha Farrell delivered a two-run double to center to push the Bearcats in front, 7-1.

The Bearcats then capped the scoring in the fifth, when Michalski ripped a two-run double to left center to plate Henderson and Favero for the 9-1 final.

The Bearcats finished with nine runs on 13 hits. Favero went 3-for-3 and scored three runs, while Dudenhoeffer was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Henderson added two hits and two RBIs, Farrell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Michalski drove in two runs with her fifth-inning double.
Taylor Williams also recorded two hits and scored once in the win.

Natalie Bizup earned the complete-game win to improve to 7-4, allowing just one unearned run on five hits over 5.0 innings while striking out one. The Bearcats backed her with a clean defensive effort that included two double plays.
