GREENSBURG, Pa. (Apr. 12)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team recorded a Sunday doubleheader sweep against Pitt-Greensburg at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
The Bearcats won the opener of the doubleheader 5-2 before winning match two by a score of 6-1.
Match 1- Saint Vincent 5, Pitt-Greensburg 2
The Bearcats won all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point before going on to win four of the six matches in singles as well to earn the win.
In the top doubles spot,
Carolina Walters and
Emily Pierce earned a 6-2 win, while
Sydney McWreath and
Rachel Zgurich also recorded a win by a score of 6-2 in the second doubles spot.
Cecilia Hickin and
Sofia Tehrani recorded a forfeit victory for the Bearcats in the number three doubles spot.
In singles play,
Bella Baumgardner recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win in number three singles, while Hickin recorded her second win of the afternoon with a score of 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, and 10-0 to earn the victory for SVC.
Ashley Thiel along with Tehrani both added forfeit victories in the number five and six singles spots as well for the Bearcats.
Match 2- Saint Vincent 6, Pitt-Greensburg 1
The Bearcats once again took all three doubles matches in match two, while winning five of the six singles matches as well.
Walters and O'Connor teamed up in the top spot of doubles to earn a 7-6(7-3) victory for SVC. Baumgardner and Thiel added a 6-2 win in number two doubles and Hickin and Tehrani picked up a forfeit victory in third doubles.
Zgurich recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win in number two singles, while McWreath won 6-0, 6-0 in the number three spot and Thiel won by a score of 6-3, 6-3 in the number four singles position.
Hickin and Baumgardner added forfeit victories for SVC in the number five and six singles spots.
Saint Vincent will conclude their 2025-26 season with a road non-conference matchup against Clarion next Sunday, April 19. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Clarion, Pa. next Sunday afternoon.
