GREENVILLE, Pa. (Apr. 9) — The Saint Vincent College men's tennis team posted a 7-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory over Thiel College Thursday afternoon in Greenville.
The Bearcats improved to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in PAC play with the win, while the Tomcats fell to 0-9 overall and 0-6 in conference action.
Saint Vincent took the doubles point with wins in all three flights. At No. 1 doubles,
Braden Yokopenic and
Blaise Bukovac earned a 6-2 victory over Bret Village and Tyrus Horton.
Brady Johnson and
Matthew Sadusky added a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles against Pierson Badowski and Donald Grazier, while
Kyle Murray and
Julien Vonovier picked up the win by forfeit at No. 3.
The Bearcats then swept singles play to finish off the shutout. Yokopenic earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Horton at No. 1 singles, while Sadusky claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win against Village in the second flight.
J.T. Gockel was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 3 singles over Grazier, and Vonovier followed with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph against Badowski at No. 4. Murray delivered a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kaleb McDowell at No. 5, while Johnson completed the sweep with a victory by forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Saint Vincent returns to action tomorrow, Friday, April 10 with a road non-conference matchup at McDaniel College. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in Westminster, Maryland.
