Niemiec wins 100th career match, men's tennis takes down Pitt-Greensburg in season opener

GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 13)- Saint Vincent Head men's tennis Coach Brian Niemiec earned his 100th career victory as the head coach of the Bearcats men's tennis program with their 7-0 win against Pitt-Greensburg to open the 2026-27 season.

Saint Vincent (1-0) won all nine matches against the Bobcats (0-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club. 

In doubles play, Blaise Bukovac and Braden Yokopenic opened the match with a 6-2 victory in the top doubles spot. William Hinkson IV and Daniel Lee clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 win in third doubles, giving SVC a 1-0 lead. Lee picked up his first collegiate win with the Bearcats in that third position.

Brady Johnson and John Allen added a 6-2 victory in the number two doubles position. The win for Allen was also his first collegiate victory.

In singles play, Yokopenic and Bukovac finished one and two to give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead. Yokopenic earned a 6-1, 6-0 win in the number two spot, while Bukovac followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the top singles spot.

Allen clinched the match for the Bearcats with a 6-0, 6-1 win in number three singles, earning his first career collegiate singles victory and second win of the day. 

Johnson followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory in number four singles, while Lee picked up his first collegiate singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number five singles, and Hinkson IV closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the number six singles position.
