NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 19) – The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team split a doubleheader against Penn College and Marietta on Saturday at the final day of the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at Westminster College.
Saint Vincent swept the opening match of the day against Penn College, 3-0 and lost the final match against Marietta by a score of 3-0.
Match 1- Saint Vincent 3, Penn College 0
The Bearcats (2-6) defeated the Wildcats by set scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-21.
Aubrey Siwula led the Saint Vincent attack with a match-high 11 kills, while Meegan Williams followed with 10 kills. Sabrina George added five kills while hitting a team-best .273. Preslee Horchak dished out a match-high 18 assists, while Madie Eagler added seven assists.
Williams led the Bearcats from the service line with four aces, while Jolina Estremera, Horchak, Elliot Hardy and Maria Piraino each recorded two. Saint Vincent finished the match with 14 service aces compared to five for Penn College.
Defensively, Williams totaled a team-high 10 digs to complete the double-double, while Brenna McCracken added nine digs and Piraino totaled eight. Ashlynn Schutz led Saint Vincent at the net with two block assists, while George recorded one solo block.
As a team, the Bearcats finished with 31 kills, 29 assists, 14 service aces and 43 digs. Saint Vincent held Penn College (0-12) to 13 kills and a -.065 hitting percentage in the match.
Saint Vincent will close out the Grove City/Westminster Tournament later Saturday afternoon, taking on Marietta College at 2 p.m. at Westminster College.

The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Marietta College in its final match of the Grove City/Westminster Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Westminster College.
The Pioneers (9-4) defeated the Bearcats (2-7) by set scores of 25-13, 25-20 and 25-20.
Aubrey Siwula and Meegan Williams led the Saint Vincent attack with six kills apiece. Madie Eagler and Sabrina George each added four kills, while Elliot Hardy totaled three.
Eagler and Preslee Horchak split the setting duties for the Bearcats, with each recording seven assists. Brenna McCracken added four assists, while Hardy dished out two.
Defensively, Williams led the Bearcats with a match-high 15 digs. McCracken followed with nine digs, Horchak totaled eight and Maria Piraino added seven. Eagler finished with six digs, while Siwula and Hardy each recorded five.
Saint Vincent totaled five service aces in the match, with Williams, Jolina Estremera, Horchak, Hardy and Piraino each recording one. Eagler, George, Ashlynn Schutz and Hardy each finished with one block assist.
As a team, Saint Vincent totaled 25 kills, 21 assists, five service aces, 57 digs and two total blocks. Marietta finished with 42 kills and hit .203 for the match, compared to a .060 hitting percentage for the Bearcats.
Marietta's Annabelle Hacker led all players with 12 kills while hitting .385, while Elyse Smith dished out a match-high 34 assists.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, September 23 as they host Bethany in the Bearcats first PAC matchup of the season. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night in the Robert S. Carey Center.
