BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 22) – Emma Koller scored twice as the Saint Vincent women's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 non-conference victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bearcats (5-1-1) picked up their fifth win of the season behind goals from Koller, Lexi Graham, Riley Kerr, Bella Meder and Kamryn Burtner. Cori Bieber added two assists, while Rilyn Warner made two saves in goal to record her third consecutive shutout. Saint Vincent controlled the action from the opening whistle, breaking through for the game's first goal in the 13th minute. Koller found the back of the net to give the Bearcats an early 1-0 advantage.
Koller struck again just over 16 minutes later. Bieber set up Koller for her second goal of the afternoon in the 29th minute, increasing the Saint Vincent lead to 2-0. The Bearcats carried the two-goal advantage into halftime after outshooting Notre Dame 10-2 over the opening 45 minutes.
Saint Vincent wasted little time adding to its lead in the second half. Just 1:53 into the period, Bieber picked up her second assist of the afternoon when she found Graham for the junior's third goal of the season, extending the Bearcat lead to 3-0. Less than seven minutes later, Kerr scored her fourth goal of the season in the 54th minute to make it 4-0.
The Bearcats continued to add to their advantage, as Meder found the back of the net in the 59th minute for her third goal of the season, giving Saint Vincent a 5-0 lead. Burtner capped off the scoring in the 79th minute, scoring the first goal of her collegiate career to give the Bearcats the 6-0 advantage.
Saint Vincent controlled the offensive attack throughout the afternoon, outshooting Notre Dame 25-4, including a 16-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Bearcats also held an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Koller led the Saint Vincent offense with seven shots, including four on goal, while Graham recorded three shots. Addie Fisher, Meder, Natalie Helman and Sofia Tepichin each totaled two shots. Bieber finished the afternoon with two assists.
Warner played all 90 minutes in net for the Bearcats, making two saves to record her fourth shutout of the season and third consecutive clean sheet. Notre Dame goalkeeper Leah Hasberry made 10 saves in the loss.
The Bearcats return to action on Friday, September 25 as they host Washington and Jefferson in Presidents Athletic Conference action at UPMC Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
