Adam Dukate joined the baseball staff in 2012 as an assistant coach. His primary responsibility is to work with the Bearcat pitching staff.
During the 2018 season, sophomore Jimmy Malone garnered All-PAC First Team honors after posting a 5-2 record with a 3.76 earned run average. Under Dukate's tutelage, Malone became the first Saint Vincent freshman pitcher to gain All-PAC honors during the 2017 season.
In total, seven pitchers have earned All-PAC accolades during Dukate's tenure with the Bearcats.
A 2006 graduate of NCAA Division II California University of Pennsylvania, Dukate was a four-year member of the Vulcans' pitching staff and team captain as a senior. Over his four-year career he amassed 10 wins and struck out 79 batters in 148.2 innings. As a junior in 2005, he finished with a 3-0 record and 2.80 earned-run average in 35.1 innings, and as a senior Dukate threw 57.2 innings and had 3.75 earned-run average with a 5-4 record. During his four-year career the Vulcans won the PSAC West twice (2005 and 2006) and won the PSAC in 2004.
Upon graduation, Dukate was selected to the Washington (Pa.) Blue Sox, a summer collegiate team comprised of players from Division I, II and III schools. He then signed to play professional baseball with the Brisbane All-Stars in Australia for the 2007-08 season.
Dukate also played in the Fayette County Baseball League from 2000-2012, being selected to the league's all-star team seven times.
A 2001 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School, Dukate was a multiple letter winner in both baseball and basketball for the Rockets. Prior to joining the staff at Saint Vincent, he served as an assistant and pitching coach for his alma mater. In addition, he holds a degree in Liberal Studies from California University of Pennsylvania a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Saint Vincent College and is a certified strength and conditioning coach with USA weightlifting. Dukate leads the Saint Vincent Baseball team strength and conditioning program in the off season.
