Saint Vincent College

Alex Sommers joins the Bearcat men's basketball staff for the 2020-21 season after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Sarasota High School in Sarasota, Florida.  He has previously served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Florida Gateway College, and as a director of basketball analytics at State College of Florida. 
 
Sommers has spent 7 seasons as an assistant varsity basketball coach with stints at Sarasota Christian School, Sarasota High School, and Cape Coral High School. During those seasons, he helped coach 10 players who would go on to play college basketball. 
 
Sommers holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of South Florida.
