Joel Trentin

Joel Trentin joins the staff of the women’s basketball team for the 2020-21 season. This is Trentin’s first year as an assistant with the Bearcats.

Prior to joining the team, Trentin led fifth and sixth grade boys’ AAU basketball at PA Elite in 2018. He also worked as a camp counselor and coach at “The Hoop Camp,” which is a youth basketball camp for third through ninth grade players held annually at Hempfield Area Senior High School, from 2015-2019.

Trentin graduated in May 2020 from Saint Vincent College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in History and minoring in Secondary Education. In December 2020, Trentin finished his professional certification program by student teaching at Norwin Middle School.  Currently, Trentin is employed as a COVID-19 Building Substitute Teacher at Greater Latrobe Junior High School.

During his college tenure, Trentin worked in the SVC Sports Information Department as a statistician-spotter for football, as well as men’s and women’s basketball from 2016-2020 and served as one of the intramural commissioners at SVC, heading intramural basketball from 2017-2020. Outside of sports, Trentin served as as an administrative assistant and tutor for the History department from 2018-2020, while also helping lead the department’s History Club as its Vice President from 2018-2020. He volunteered in the education department as well, serving as an educator in the Step-Up Enrichment Program during the spring of 2018, where he created and taught his own ten-week course on the history of Pittsburgh and its sports’ teams.

Trentin currently resides in Greensburg, Pa. with his father, Dave, C’78, his mother, Elaine, his sister, Rebecca, and their two cats, Tiger and Scarlett.
