The Bearcat men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, KY.
Thomas More put offensive pressure on the Bearcat defense for the duration of the game, as the Saints outshot SVC 24-4, and had a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The game remained scoreless for the first 66 minutes, until a goal from Thomas More's Dan Miller, assisted by Marco Rossas, broke the deadlock. The Saints looked to continually add onto its lead over the final 20 minutes, but Bearcat goalie
Jake Gilbertson kept the hosts at bay, making a trio of saves over the span.
Gilbertson finished with six saves to take the hard-luck loss, while TMC keeper Nathan Ducklo earned the shutout by posting two saves. Offensively for SVC,
Clemente Mejia posted two of the team's four shots, with
John DeSantis and
Trevor Cutlip tallying one shot apiece.
With the defeat, SVC falls to 3-14-2 on the year, and 1-6 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play. Thomas More improves to 11-4/4-2.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, wrapping up the 2010 campaign in Beaver Falls, PA against Geneva College.
