Saint Vincent drops PAC opener to Westminster

The Saint Vincent men's soccer team opened conference play with a 4-0 loss on the road at Westminster College.

The Bearcats had possession of the ball for a majority of the game, but were unable to tally a goal. The Titans scored once in the first half then netted three more in the second half to seal the win.

In the 12th-minute, Westminster's Coty Hainsey scored his first goal of the match as the hosts took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Jake Huey gave the Titans a 2-0 edge when he added a goal in the 57th-minute and David Osae added a tally in the 83rd-minute for Westminster before Hainsey added his second goal of the match just three minutes later for the final score.

For the match, the Titans held a slim edge on shots, 18-16, while the Bearcats recorded more corner kicks, 7-5. Junior Anthony Balistreri paced the SVC offense with six shots in the contest while freshman Brody Ruffner added three shots. Junior Drake Pastor, sophomore Trevor Cutlip and freshman Daniel Moore each added two shots.

Senior goalkeeper Jake Gilbertson made five saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal.

SVC drops to 1-8-1 this season and 0-1-0 in PAC play, while Westminster improved to 3-7-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the conference.
