Geneva overpowers SVC

The Saint Vincent men's soccer team dropped it's second conference match to Geneva College, 5-0, on the SVC Turf.

The Golden Tornadoes opened the scoring at the 4:50-mark on a goal off a corner kick to make the score 1-0. Just under six minutes later, Jake McCracken scored on a header to put the visitors up, 2-0. Josh Mann closed the scoring in the first half at the 34:46-mark when he netted a goal on a rebound off a save by Bearcats senior goalkeeper Jake Gilbertson.

Geneva scored twice more in the second half. Austin Petrie tallied a goal at the 74:23-mark before Mann closed out the game's scoring at the 81:26-mark with his second goal of the contest.

Saint Vincent registered five shots on the day, three of which were on goal. Junior Anthony Balistreri led the Bearcats with two shots, both on goal. Gilbertson made seven saves in the game.

With the loss, the Bearcats drop to 1-9-1 on the season and 0-2 in the PAC. Geneva improves to 8-3-1 and 2-0 in the PAC.

Saint Vincent returns to action Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1pm for a Homecoming contest against Washington & Jefferson.
