Thiel overpowers Saint Vincent on the road

The Thiel Tomcats overpowered the Bearcat men's basketball team on the road in Greenville, as SVC fell by a score of 86-69.

The Bearcats opened the game on a 9-2 run over the first three minutes with Isaac Turner scoring four quick points to give the visitors the early lead.
 
Thiel quickly tied the game at nine when Blair Rozenblad connected on a pair of free throws with 15:21 remaining in the half.
 
The teams went back-and-forth over the next few possessions and Saint Vincent got the lead to four, 17-13, with just over 11 minutes left after Dennis Bassich hit two free throws.
 
Thiel then went on a 12-3 run over the next four minutes to take a 25-18 lead, capped off by a score from Kamran McKaskill.
 
The Bearcats closed to within four points after a bucket from Bassich with 5:25 left, making the score 27-23.
 
The Tomcats then went onto to score 13 of the next 20 points to close the half and take a 40-30 into the break.
 
Bassich led all scorers in the first half with 11 points, including seven-of-eight from the charity stripe, while Tauvon Pettiford contributed eight points.
 
Thiel wasted no time in building their lead in the second half. The Tomcats built their lead to 18 just over five minutes into the half, 53-35, on a layup by Rozenblad. The Thiel lead would grow as large as 29 with 6:10 remaining as the Tomcats went up 77-48 on a three pointer from Chace McKinney.
 
Saint Vincent was able to get within 17 points but the Tomcats proved to be too much for the Bearcats, defeating Saint Vincent by a final of 86-69.
 
Thiel shot 55.6% from the field in the game, including 50% from the three and 95% (20-21) at the free throw line.
 
With the loss, Saint Vincent drops to 5-3, 1-2 in the PAC. The win puts Thiel at 6-2, 4-0 in the PAC.
 
NOTES: Bassich finished with 16 points on the afternoon to lead Saint Vincent and Armani Fountain added 10…The Tomcats had 24 assists on 30 field goals… McKinney led all scorers with 21 points in the contest...Saint Vincent committed only 8 turnovers in the game.
