The Thomas More College Saints swept a doubleheader from the Bearcats in Latrobe by scores of 8-3 and 8-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
The Saints got off to a fast start, with Dana Bors belting a 2-run home run to center field in the top of the first inning of the opener. The visitors then added five more runs in the third inning on five hits. The Bearcats managed to get a pair of runs back in the bottom of the inning, but it wasn't enough, as the Saints cruised to an 8-3 win.
Alyssa Grossman had a pair of singles to lead the offense, while
Shauna Hetrick took the loss in the circle.
Emily Lauterbach pitched well in relief, striking out three and pitching three shutout innings.
In game two, Thomas More scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the first off Grossman, then added a pair of runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth. With two out in the bottom of the sixth, Brittany Wegman hit a line drive home run to left center to end the game due to the 8-run rule.
Bors earned the win for the Saints, giving up only a leadoff single to
Leanna Seminsky in the top of the first, walking one and striking out seven.
Saint Vincent drops to 9-3 (0-2 PAC) on the season with the losses, while TMC improves to 13-9 (4-0).
