GREENWOOD, Ind. (June 2)- Five Saint Vincent softball players earned Academic All-District honors, which was announced by the College Sports Communicators last week.
Juniors
Mackenzie Favero,
Alyssa Henderson, and
Shayna Perigo, along with sophomores
Taylor Williams and
Abby Bauer all earned the award for the Bearcats.
To be eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or
must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or
pitched 35 innings.
Favero concluded yet another impressive season. The junior shortstop led Saint Vincent with an impressive .451 batting average, recording eight RBI's and scored 37 runs, while drawing 21 walks. Favero was 10-12 in stolen base attempts over the course of the season as well.
Henderson had an impressive season for the Bearcats, ranking second in the team in batting average (.422) and third in RBI's (23). She played in all 38 games, starting in 36 of those games where she recorded 49 hits, including nine doubles, while she also scored 11 runs for SVC en route to her first team All-PAC selection.
Perigo was named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team a couple of weeks ago. The junior started in 27 games for the Bearcats over the course of her junior season. Perigo hit .292 with 15 RBI's and 12 runs scored, while she also drew five walks and was hit by a pitch.
Williams earned All-PAC Honorable Mention honors earlier this spring. The sophomore played in 35 games with 26 starts for Saint Vincent during her sophomore campaign. She hit .333 with 12 RBI's and 17 runs scored for the Bearcats. She had 27 hits with three doubles, while also drawing four walks as well.
Bauer played in 35 games for the Bearcats with 29 starts over the course of her sophomore campaign. She hit an impressive .407 with 12 RBI's and 17 runs scored. Bauer also compiled 37 hits, including five doubles and drew 13 walks.
