The Bethany College Bison defeated Saint Vincent by scores of 2-1 and 7-2 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play in West Virginia.
In game one, SVC took the early lead when
Leanna Seminsky,
Shannon Hite and
Maria Adams all singled in the top of the third, with Adams driving home Seminsky.
However, in the bottom of the 7th, a leadoff home run by Cortney Lax tied the game at one, and the next two batters got on base with singles. With two outs, a single by Andrea Thomas scored the winning run.
Shauna Hetrick (5-4) took the hard-luck loss in the circle, scattering eight hits, walking three and striking out one. Hite led the offense with a pair of hits.
In game two, the Bison led 2-1 through five innings, then took advantage of a pair of SVC errors to post four unearned runs in the sixth, helping them cruise to the 7-2 win.
Hite once again led the offense with a pair of singles, while
Emily Petrowsky doubled and drove home a run.
Becky Deane was 1-3 with an RBI.
Alyssa Grossman (6-3) worked the first six innings and took the loss, giving up two earned runs.
SVC is now 2-6 in the PAC, 11-7 overall. Bethany improves to 3-1 in the conference, 14-10 overall on the season. The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, hosting Penn State-Altoona in a non-conference doubleheader at 3PM.
