Bearcats play to double overtime tie in Greensburg

The Bearcat men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime tie on the road at Pitt-Greensburg.

Neither team was able to score in the first half, as the teams played evenly.  UPG outshot Saint Vincent by a 5-4 margin, with four of the UPG shots finding their way to SVC keeper Jake Gilbertson.   However, neither team was able to put a ball in the net.

In the 71st minute, the Bobcats' Craig Macdonald scored the game's first goal, off an assist from Matt Papinchak.

Seven minutes later, Clemente Mejia sent a cross into the box and Anthony Balistreri connected for his team-leading fourth goal of the season, tying the game at 1.

At the end of regulation, the scorebook showed that the game had been played evenly, with a 1-1 score and the teams also tied in shots at 11 each.

In overtime, Saint Vincent dominated play, outshooting the hosts 8-1 through two ten-minute periods, but neither team was able to score, ending the game in a tie.

Saint Vincent is now 1-6-1 on the season, and will return to action on Tuesday night at 730 at Hiram College in Ohio.
