The Saint Vincent men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision to Hiram at the Charles A. Henry Field.
Hiram used two goals from all-NCAC forward Ryan Minick in the 15th and 49th minutes to propel it to victory. The Terriers added an insurance goal at 60:59 to bring the score to the final, 3-0, margin.
The hosts were led by 14 second-half shots and out-shot the Bearcats, 16-1, for the game, while also holding a 6-0 edge on corner kicks. Sophomore
Trevor Cutlip recorded the lone shot on SVC, which was turned away by Hiram keeper Joe Rottinger.
Senior goalkeeper
Jake Gilbertson allowed all three Terrier goals while making two saves in 70 minutes. Freshman
Eric Houghton played the final 20 minutes between the pipes, allowing no goals while recording four saves.
With the loss, the Bearcats drop to 1-7-1 on the season and Hiram improves to 5-1-1.
SVC opens up Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 1, when it travels to New Wilmington, Pa., to play Westminster at 1 p.m.
