The Saint Vincent men's soccer team lost a late-night game at Carnegie Mellon University by a score of 4-1.
After the start of the game was delayed by lightning, the Tartans were poised to take the early lead after being awarded a penalty kick in the 22nd minute. However, SVC keeper
Jake Gilbertson made the stop, and the game remained scoreless.
The Bearcats then took a 1-0 lead when
Justin Verneau tied scored off a header pass from
Anthony Balistreri in the 32nd minute.
However, just six minutes later, the Tartans tied the game, and the teams went into the break knotted at 1-1.
Just over two minutes into the second half, the hosts were awarded another penalty kick, and converted for the eventual game-winner.
For the night, SVC was out-shot 36-5, while CMU also held a big advantage in corner kicks, 16-1.
Gilbertson played well, saving 15 shots.
The Bearcats fall to 0-2 on the season, while CMU improves to 1-0-1.
