The Bearcats rallied from an early 17-point deficit, but fell to Geneva College at Chuck Noll Field by the final score of 30-22.

Geneva scored on its first possession of the day, with a Zack Hayward 34-yard-pass to Corey O'Patchen setting up a Rocco Colavecchia one-yard TD run that made it 7-0.

An interception near the end of the first quarter then led to Geneva's second touchdown, another short run by Colavecchia that made it 14-0. with just over 12 minutes left in the second quarter.

On the next drive, SVC was forced to punt from deep in its own territory, and the snap sailed over punter Mark McCracken's head, giving the Golden Tornadoes a first-and-goal at the Bearcat five.  However, the defense dug in and held, forcing a 22-yard field goal by Brian Visingardi that made it 17-0.

Saint Vincent then responded, with a pair of passes (11 and 16 yards) from Matt Deakins to Matt Duffey helping to move the ball into the red zone.  Deakins and Duffey then teamed for third time on the drive, this for an 8-yard scoring strike that made it 17-6.  The extra point attempt was blocked.

Geneva's first play after the touchdown resulted in an interception by Renny Larue-Holloman, who ran it back to the Geneva three.  However, the Geneva defense had a strong goal-line stand of its own, forcing SVC to send Porter out for a field goal attempt.  After the 20-yard FG, the score was 17-9.

The visitors then went back to work, starting a drive with just 1:00 on the clock and using their time outs wisely, getting to the Saint Vincent 14 before Visingardi his a 32-yard field goal as time expired, making the score 20-9 at the break.

Michael Valdes then stripped the ball from a Geneva receiver on the first drive of the second half, giving the Bearcats the ball near midfield.  A 16-yard pass from Deakins to Carl Jeune moved the ball to the Geneva 28, and two plays later, Deakins hit Ryan Crawford in the end zone from 24 yards out for a touchdown.  The 2-point conversion failed, leaving the score at 20-15.

Geneva, however, came right back down the field, putting together an 11-play, 73-yard drive that was capped by a shovel pass from Colavecchia to Josh Guiser, who ran it in from two yards out, making the score 27-15.

Just four plays later, quarterback Andy Borgen ran 59 yards into the end zone for the biggest play of the day for Saint Vincent, making the score 27-22.

Yet again, Geneva put together a scoring drive, this time held to a field goal, as Visingardi hit from 37 yards out with 39 seconds left in the third quarter to make it 30-22.

After both defenses held in the early portion of the fourth quarter, Dwayne Brown ripped the ball free on a Geneva running play, giving the Bearcats the ball at the Geneva 30.  However, two plays later, Deakins' pass was intercepted by Thomas Benyo, ending the SVC scoring threat.

The Bearcats held Geneva and forced a punt with exactly two minutes left, but after moving the ball to the Geneva 42, the drive stalled and the Bearcats turned the ball over on downs.

On the day, Geneva out-gained Saint Vincent 422-240 in yardage.  Colavecchia led all rushers with 20 carries for 91 yards.  Borgen had 84 yards on 8 carries for SVC.  Hayward was 18-29 for 174 yards through the air for Geneva.  Deakins was 13 of 27 for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Saint Vincent.

Defensively, Larue-Holloman had a solid game, with 11 tackles, including two sacks and one forced fumble, along with an interception.  Ryan Schmid added eight tackles on the day, while Jovaughn Johnson also had an interception.

Geneva's defense put together 12 tackles behind the line of scrimmage on the day resulting in losses of 57 yards for SVC.

With the loss, Saint Vincent is now 0-6 on the year (0-4 PAC) while Geneva is now 2-2 in the conference, 2-4 overall.
