The Bearcats fell behind by four goals late in the third quarter, and despite a strong fourth quarter comeback, fell to Wittenberg University by a score of 10-9.

The Tigers scored the only two goals of the first quarter, but SVC's Zach Clark got the hosts on the board at the 12:56 mark of the second with an assist from Anthony Altieri.  After Wittenberg scored again to make it 3-1, Pete McGee scored to once again close the gap to one, 3-2.

Wittenberg then added a pair of man-up goals to extend the lead to three, but the Bearcats managed to cut it to a one-goal game at the half, 5-4, thanks to scores from Will DeLanoy and Sean Kretovics.

The third quarter belonged to the visitors, however, as the outscored SVC 5-2 through the first 13 minutes, making the score 10-6.

DeLanoy's fourth goal of the day, with 35 seconds left in the third, started the rally for the Bearcats (1-4).  Just over three minutes into the fourth, DeLanoy scored again to make it 10-8, and less than a minute later, Mike Diggs scored a man-up goal to cut it to a one-point game.

However, both defenses played well over the final 10 minutes, with neither team finding the net.  SVC had one final opportunity, starting a man advantage with just 8.4 seconds remaining, but the team's final shot was not converted, and Wittenberg held on for the victory.

Adam Gunter suffered the loss in the net, recording nine saves.  For the game, Wittenberg outshot SVC 37-30, but SVC held a 31-28 advantage in ground balls.  Saint Vincent won 12 faceoffs compared to 11 for the Tigers.  Wittenberg converted on both of its man-up opportunities, while the Bearcat power play was just 1-for-3.

Saint Vincent will return to action on Saturday, March 24, hosting Kenyon College at 1PM.
