Emily Lauterbach earned a win and a save, and a pair of Bearcats hit home runs as Saint Vincent swept a doubleheader against Penn State-Beaver by scores of 2-1 and 5-1.

In game one, the visitors took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning, scoring an unearned run off SVC starter Ally Vrcek.  In the bottom of the inning, Emily Petrowsky hit her first home run of the season to tie the game at one.

After that Vrcek was solid, working 5.1 innings and striking out four.  Lauterbach came on to get the final two outs of the sixth, and moved in line for the win thanks to a Bearcat rally in the bottom half of the inning.

With two outs, Ally Panzella reached on an error then stole second.  After Petrowsky was walked intentionally, Suzie Cool reached on another error to load the bases.  Panzella then scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

Lauterbach then retired the Lions in order in the seventh to preserve the win.

In game two, Panzella singled to lead off the bottom of the first, then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Maria Adams.  The bunt was misplayed, however, and both runners were safe.  With two on, Becky Deane singled to center to load the bases, and Sam Shumaker hit a two-run single that would prove to be all that the hosts would need.

Mikele Prokopovich worked five strong innings in the circle, giving up just four hits and one run while striking out three.

In the bottom of the fifth, SVC added a pair of runs, thanks in part to a Vrcek double and an RBI single by Shannon Baczek.  In the sixth, Adams homered to left field for added insurance.

Lauterbach pitched two scoreless innings to record the save.

Saint Vincent is now 7-5 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday against Penn State-Altoona on the road.
