BETHANY, W.Va. (Apr. 21) - Saint Vincent men's lacrosse all-time points leader
Will DeLanoy recorded eight points (four goals and four assists) as the Bearcats rolled to a 19-3 win on the road against Bethany.
With the win, the Bearcats improve to 4-8 after winning three of their last four games. Bethany, who is in its second year as a varsity sport, drops to 1-11 on the year.
DeLanoy led all scorers as 13 different Bearcats recorded at least one point. Freshman
Nick Pensyl added four points (three goals, one assist), and seniors
Alex Langton and
Kevin Vawter and sophomore
Sean Kretovics each posted three points in the victory.
SVC posted seven goals in the first quarter, including five in the final 2:50 of the period, to take an early 7-1 lead at the first break. After adding a pair of goals in the second period, the Bearcats took a 9-1 lead into halftime.
The Bearcats scored the first two goals of the second half before Bethany posted its second goal of the day. However, DeLanoy then responded with four-straight points (three assists, one goal) in a little over two minutes to push SVC to a 15-2 lead.
In the fourth quarter, SVC outscored the Bison, 4-1, and posted the 19-3 victory on the road.
Junior
Adam Gunter earned the win in goal, playing all 60 minutes and making four saves.
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, Apr. 28, traveling to No. 7 Denison for a 2 p.m. match-up.
