Thomas More downs SVC, 4-1

LATROBE (Oct. 15) - Sophomore Christian Trueax gave the Bearcats an early 1-0 lead, but Thomas More responded with four unanswered goals as the Saint Vincent men's soccer team was downed by Thomas More, 4-1, in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

The loss drops the Bearcats to 2-11 on the season and 0-3 in the conference, while the win improves the Saints to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the league.

Trueax's goal came at 11:42, but TMC answered less than three minutes later when Jake Plummer found the back of the net. Plummer later converted a penalty kick in the 20th minute to put the guests up, 2-1, which the score remained at halftime.

Brian Runyon drilled a shot on the right side of the cage 4:31 into the second half to build the lead to 3-1, and then Plummer converted his second penalty kick and third goal of the game in the 61st minute.

For the game, TMC held a 19-11 advantage on shots and attempted four corner kicks to SVC's two.

Junior Brody Ruffner led SVC with three shots (two on goal) and Trueax and senior Luke D'Amico each posted two shots.

Junior goalkeeper Eric Houghton made four saves in 90 minutes of action.

SVC returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 for a 3:30 p.m. Senior Day match-up against PAC-foe Thiel.
