Behind a career-high 22 points from JC Howard, the Saint Vincent Bearcats won their 2013-14 home opener over Penn State-Fayette by a score of 93-73.

Howard was 8-for-9 from the floor, including 6-7 from outside the three-point arc.  He added three steals, all in just 25 minutes of playing time.

In front of a large crowd for a Monday night contest, SVC got off to a quick start, scoring the game's first 13 points.  By the 12:50 mark, Howard had hit a trio of three-pointers, and the lead was 21-2.

However, the Lions regrouped, eventually cutting the gap to just nine (36-27).  Saint Vincent went into the half up by ten, 39-29.

Isaac Turner scored seven quick points to start the second half, as SVC rebuilt the lead, and the hosts never looked back.  In all, 14 players shared court time, with 11 different Bearcats scoring points.

Sean Kett tallied 17 points in 23 minutes, and added nine rebounds.  Dillon Stith had a double-double, posting 12 points and 10 boards in 28 minutes, and added 8 assists.

Freshman Nick Santana made his presence known with 11 points and six rebounds in just 12 minutes, including hitting both of his shots from 3-point range.

Turner added 9, while Ben Klimchock scored 7 points in his first start as a Bearcat.

For the Lions (1-3), Luke Williams had 21 points and seven rebounds.

Saint Vincent is now 2-1 on the season.  The team will leave on Wednesday for a trip to the west coast to play in the University of California-Santa Cruz Tournament.  First up will be a matchup against Caltech on Friday afternoon.  The game will tip at 4PM Eastern.
