The Thomas More Saints swept a doubleheader over the Bearcats in Latrobe by scores of 3-0 and 8-0.

In game one, Ally Vrcek and Ronni Burns were locked in a pitchers' duel early, with Vrcek striking out three through the first three innings, while Burns mowed down seven straight Bearcat batters at one point.

In the top of the fourth, the Saints tallied a pair of runs on three hits to take the lead.

The next inning, SVC's Shannon Baczek walked to lead off, then moved to third on a double by Sam Shumaker, but both runners were stranded and SVC was kept off the scoreboard.

Thomas More added another run in the sixth and held on for a 3-0 win.  Vrcek took the loss, giving up four hits and just two earned runs, while walking just two and striking out nine.

Burns tossed a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking one.

Suzie Cool, Shumaker and Maria Adams had the SVC hits.

In game two, the Saints scored twice in the first and added four runs in the second off SVC starter Emily Lauterbach.  Only two of the six runs were earned.

Mamee Salzer held the Bearcats to just two hits in the game, singles by Baczek and Maria McAndrews.

The Saints scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to end the game early, 8-0.

SVC is now 3-11 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
