LATROBE (April 23) - The Saint Vincent softball team dropped a twinbill against first-place Westminster by scores of 4-1 and 5-1 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

The sweep drops the Bearcats to 10-16 on the year and 3-13 in the PAC, while Westminster improves to 20-12 this season and 13-3 in league play.

The Titans scored twice in the first inning of game one, tallying a pair of runs on four hits.  After that, SVC starter Emily Lauterbach settled down and kept the visitors off the scoreboard until the sixth.  However, the lone Bearcat run didn't come until the seventh inning, when Becky Deane singled, and pinch runner Shannon Hite later scored on a single by Suzie Cool

Cool went 2-for-4 in the game, while Deane was 2-2 with a walk.  Lauterbach went the distance, giving up seven hits.  Chelsea Brown tossed a six-hitter for the Titans.

In game two, the game remained scoreless until the third, when Westminster got a leadoff infield single, followed by a double.  After a sacrifice bunt, the second run of the inning scored on a groundout.

Saint Vincent cut the margin in half in the sixth.  Lindsey Daniels reached second on a two-base error, then moved to third on a single by Maria Adams. Shannon Baczek then grounded out to short, scoring Daniels.

However, the visitors added three runs in the seventh inning, with a home run by Allison Hryadil providing two of the three runs.

Ally Vrcek took the loss in the circle for Saint Vincent.

SVC is slated to return to action on Thursday afternoon in Latrobe, hosting Penn State-Altoona.
