SVC, Chatham split PAC doubleheader

BOX SCORE - GAME ONE

BOX SCORE - GAME TWO

The Saint Vincent Bearcats and the Chatham Cougars split a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader in Pittsburgh, with SVC winning the first game, 8-1, and Chatham taking the nightcap, 5-1.

In the opener, Sarah Swettlen tripled and scored to give SVC a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

With the score tied at one, the Bearcats then added three more runs in the third. Swettlen led off with a ground rule double, then Maria Adams drew a walk.  Shannon Baczek singled home Swettlen.  After a walk to Becky Deane, a single by Sam Shumaker scored Baczek, and a double steal by Shumaker and Deane brought home the inning's third run.

Jenna LoVasco had a 2-run single in the fifth, part of a three-run inning, as the lead increased to 7-1, which was more than enough support for Emily Lauterbach, who went the distance and tossed a 2-hitter.

In game two, Ally Vrcek took the loss, giving up one run in the fourth and four more in the fifth.  A bases-loaded triple by the Cougars' Jenn Stefano was the big hit.

SVC managed nine hits against CU starter Olivia Traini but scored only once, in the top of the sixth, on an RBI single by Suzie Cool.

Cool was 3-for-3 in the game, while Daniels was 2-4.

The Bearcats are now 6-4 on the season.
