The Juniata College Eagles scored a pair of quick goals then held on for a 2-0 over the Bearcats in the home opener on the Saint Vincent Turf.

The visitors came out strong, dominating play in the opening minutes.  Dani Meyer-Arrivilla worked his way through the defense in the third minute, put a shot toward the lower left corner of the net past SVC keeper Eric Houghton, and Juniata's Andy Blunk finished the shot for the goal and the 1-0 lead.

Nine minutes later, Robby Higgins scored after receiving the ball on a direct kick by Nick Weit and doubled the lead.

After that, the Bearcats settled down and played well through the remainder of the half, and the second half was evenly played.  SVC had several scoring opportunities in the second 45 minutes, but were unable to capitalize.

Juniata outshot Saint Vincent 10-2 in the first half, but the second half shots were only slightly in favor of the Eagles, 6-5.  Houghton made three saves in each half in the net.

The Bearcats are now 1-2 on the season and will return to action on Friday against Pitt-Bradford on the road.  Game time is 2PM.
