Bearcat swimmers sweep Pitt-Bradford



FULL RESULTS

LATROBE (Jan. 11) - The Saint Vincent swimming teams boasted a pair of non-conference victories over Pitt-Bradford at the Resnik Pool with the women winning 131-94 and the men's final score being 127-109.

Both SVC teams improve to 2-4 in the dual meet portion of the schedule, and the meet marked the Bearcats first action since the Indiana (Pa.) Invitational Nov. 21-23.

The women won nine events on the day, plus three more that counted as exhibitions.

The 200 medley relay won in 2:06.78 as Christina Webster, Kristina Boburka, Megan Samoriski and Paige Gibbons led the Bearcats as SVC went 1-2-3.

Alyssa Taylor won the 1000 Freestyle in 11:29.82 and Molly Ruffner posted wins in the 50 (36.63) and 100 (1:18.78) breaststroke.

Marissa Frollo and Melissa Anderson won the 50 and 100 freestyles, respectively, with times of 25.09 and 59.96.

For the men, SVC won 11 events and one exhibition. The 200 medley relay opened the day with a time of 1:43.22 as Matt Linebaugh, Andy Moog, Xander Emili and Zach Ligus competed.

Ligus would capture the 100 (49.39) and 200 (1:51.05) freestyle events and Moog touched the wall first in the 50 (28.65) and 100 (1:02.49) breaststroke. Individually, Emili captured the 50 fly in 25.05 and the 100 backstroke in 57.28.

SVC returns to the pool on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Washington & Jefferson for a 6 p.m. start.
