SVC wins road contest over Penn State-Altoona

BOX SCORE

A goal in the final minute of regulation by Kevin Proctor completed a Saint Vincent comeback, as the team earned a 3-2 men's soccer victory on the road over Penn State-Altoona.

Altoona's Alex Bartlett scored less than two minutes into the first half to open the scoring, but SVC's Scott Luthy took a throw-in from Proctor and headed it home to tie the game in the 10th minute.

In the 23rd minute, a direct kick by Altoona resulted in a rebound that was put into the net by Chris Miller, giving the hosts a 2-1 advantage, which they carried into the halftime break.

The one-goal margin remained until the 81st minute, when Luthy and Proctor teamed for a nearly identical play, with Luthy heading home Proctor's long throw-in, tying the game at 2-2.

With just 50 seconds remaining in regulation, a foul in Altoona territory gave Saint Vincent a direct kick from 25 yards out, and Proctor placed the shot over the keeper and into the net for what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

Eric Houghton stopped 7 shots to earn the win in the net for the Bearcats.  SVC held a 19-18 shot advantage for the evening.

With the win, the Bearcats are now 4-8 as they wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule.  The team opens play in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, October 8.
